Salmonella gallinarum – update

1st – I still believe in what I wrote and posted in 11/04/2012, which is:
The inhibitory phenomenon (quick and big intestinal protection working as a competitive exclusion against field Salmonella). I also believe we have to work with 3 SE during breeding, via drinking water. The first one may be via spray, but the other 2 exclusively via drinking water, available during 3 to 4 hours.
Always remembering that the water must be chlorine free and that some medicines stay attached to the pipes and remain active for a few days. Also, we must pay attention for residual medicated ration in containers and automatic feeders.
Some farms with asbestos boxes:
There are works proving that it can neutralize until 50% of the live IBD vaccine. I have myself tested the presence of chlorine in the water from this kind of box after 48 hours without chlorination and I was still able to detect chlorine.
2nd Death birds must be taken out of the house several times during the day and not only once a day. This is because Salmonella does not die along with the bird. Worst: After the bird’s death, it spreads thru all tissues, increasing the contamination. All birds must be cremated. The composting process in several farms is poorly done and have many flies.
3rd In laying hens we must continue the SE vaccination in water every 10 weeks, until week 55. However, if the disease appears we must only use the intramuscular 9r and the result is satisfactory, which means the 9r vaccine works more as a medicine than a vaccine. One thing I know for sure: birds that received at least 2 (if raised on the floor until day 50) or 3 (if raised in cages) SE vaccines will respond better to medicines and revaccination with intramuscular 9r.
In some cases medicate before when you have high mortality ie above 3% per month as an average.
Which means:
A lot with 30,000 birds died on the 1st day 20 birds, on the 2nd day 26 birds on day 3 28 birds, on the 4th day 38 birds giving a total of 112 birds, dividing by 4 days will give an average of 28 birds x 30 days = 840 birds / month divided by 30,000 = 2.8%.
Of course, this mortality in a house without disease can not exceed 2.8%.
If we have 3% mortality in a house without disease, in cases “with disease” we shall consider close to 6%. All this said because I do not medicate with low mortality before applying the 9r vaccine.
There are professionals who believe that with the termination of Salmonella gallinarum in the past decades SE appeared, and with inactivated vaccines SE “disappeared” and Salmonella gallinarum raised again.
I believe that is due to a process similar to competitive exclusion. But today we have the SE vaccine available which controls the disease, also making a competitive exclusion-like “phenomenon” with Salmonella gallinarum too.
But the fight is big and we have few professionals deeply committed to really end the disease.
Because the sale of various products required quota and there is not time to follow what they sell and with practice learn to fund and guide the producer.
